The 5th Crawley Apprenticeship & Jobs Fair hosted by Henry Smith was a success.
While local unemployment has fallen to one and a half per cent locally, there is more I can do for Crawley to help people into education and training.
After previously holding four similar events in recent years, I was looking forward to hosting the Crawley Apprenticeship & Jobs Fair at the Town Hall on 27th March 2017.
I was pleased to welcome recent figures stating that the number of apprenticeship starts in 2015/16 in Crawley was up on the previous year, as it was across the whole of south east England.
However, I am aware that more needs to be done to ensure that more people in our town find work or get into professional training.
Crawley is home to many leading national and global companies, but finding the right kind of work, or getting back in to employment after a period of absence, may be difficult.
This is why holding these dedicated Crawley Apprenticeship & Jobs Fair is so important for the people of Crawley.
I hope that this event was successful for all whom attended.
